I have little or no recollection Of the speech aside f frequent allusions to the Union and the Constitution. Was sufficient for me to know that I was great man about whom my father had so Often me and for whom he had so great an admiration nothing Of his 7th Of March speech in the Senat vious year, which had lost him the confidenc majority Of the Whig party, and which was a vi in its disintegration and its speedy extinction. Daniel Webster was the Great Orator, the Exp the Constitution, the Great Statesman, who Liberty and Union - now and forever - one an able. On the occasion above noted Mr. Webst make the ridiculous speech which has been since to him. I did not hear that story till years later.
